My Journey as a Spoken English Coach

Hi, I’m Zia, a spoken English coach, and this is my story—a journey that started not in a classroom, but in the real world, long before I even knew I’d be a teacher.

It all began when I was in the ninth standard. My family was going through some tough financial times, so I started working as a waiter in catering services around Mumbai. My father, a journalist writing for an Urdu journal, didn’t earn much, so I had to pitch in. But his idea wasn’t just about making ends meet. Even if we didn’t have money issues, he would’ve still wanted me to work. He believed that real-world experiences would teach me more than just classroom education ever could.

My father always pushed me toward English, knowing its value. He constantly encouraged me to build confidence in public interactions, taking me to literature festivals, giving me books, and pushing me out of my comfort zone. That’s where the MKPF Framework really comes from—right from those early days. He instilled in me the right mindset, took me to places where I could practice, gave me plenty of knowledge from books and workshops, and he was always there with feedback. Those were my four pillars, even before I named them as such.

Over the years, I went to several local English tuitions and classes. I must have had at least four or five different teachers. And then one day, I walked into a class run by a woman named Kanaz Tarachand. She’s now my mentor, but the way our story began is quite interesting.

I joined her class to improve my English communication skills, and after a few days, she saw something in me. She liked my English enough to ask me to become her assistant. And that’s how I accidentally became an English teacher—it wasn’t by choice, but by chance. I started assisting her and conducting lectures, beginning with grammar, which has always been a passion of mine. For me, grammar is what physics was to Einstein. What acting is to Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan is what teaching is to me. I just love the idea of being able to communicate with people and encourage them to do better.

From there, my journey as a teacher took off. I worked at a reputed English-speaking institute in Mumbai for a few years. But one of the most rewarding experiences came when I got the chance to work on the Access Microscholarship Program funded by the US government. For two years, I taught English to underprivileged tribal children in a remote village called Atgaon, near Kasara. It was a beautiful and humbling journey, where I didn’t just teach language skills, but also shared lessons about American culture and the world beyond their village.

Then came 2020, and like everyone else, my life shifted during the lockdown. I had spent years in the English-speaking industry, but I kept hearing the same story from people—there was so much confusion. Where do I start? How do I improve? What’s the right way to learn? I realized that just teaching English grammar, vocabulary, and rules wasn’t enough.

So, in 2020, I founded Zia’s Conversation Club. The idea was simple: give people a space to practice. And since then, it has transformed the confidence and skills of many members. The club focuses on what I truly believe in—practice and feedback. While I still encourage members to expand their knowledge and work on their mindset, the core of the Conversation Club is allowing people to practice speaking and receive real-time feedback.

Now, I’m on a mission to take the MKPF Framework beyond just the traditional way of learning English. This framework isn’t just about improving language—it’s about helping you transform into a more confident, independent communicator who knows exactly what areas to work on. Whether it’s building the right mindset, expanding your knowledge, or finding the right opportunities to practice, the MKPF Framework covers it all. It gives you clarity—a roadmap to follow, with no guesswork. If you’re ready to truly see yourself as a powerful speaker, it’s time to embrace this larger picture.

As a coach, I’m not here to make you feel comfortable. I’m here to shake things up. I’m not the coach who tells you what you want to hear—I tell you what you need to hear. I’m real, I’m direct, and I’m committed to helping you break through your limitations. Whether it’s in our Conversation Club or a personal coaching session, I’ll wake you up and push you to grow in ways you never thought possible.

I work with powerful people who are serious about taking their communication skills to the next level. I don’t believe in shortcuts or sugarcoating—I believe in real, solid progress. My goal is to help you see your own potential, to help you push beyond your comfort zone, and to make sure you become a speaker with the confidence, clarity, and independence to thrive.

So, if you’re ready to level up, to stop doubting and start owning your voice, the MKPF Framework is for you. Let’s get real, get to work, and get you to where you want to be.
